Milíčovský les a rybníky

Milíčovský les a rybníky is a protected woodland area near Újezd that combines thick forest with four connected ponds spread across rolling terrain. The landscape mixes mature trees with open water, creating a patchwork of forest sections and wetland zones that shift as you move through the space.

This area was recognized as needing protection starting in the late 1980s when authorities identified its value for forest and water conservation. The protection expanded a few years later to ensure the entire ecosystem would remain undisturbed for future generations.

The forest and pond system form a living classroom where visitors encounter native plants and animals in their natural settings. Walking through the trails, you notice how the water and trees create different habitats that support the local wildlife.

You can walk marked trails that connect all four ponds and guide you through different parts of the forest without getting lost. The paths are generally easy to follow, though some sections may be muddy after rain, so waterproof shoes are helpful for a more comfortable visit.

The ponds and forests here support over a dozen different frog and toad species, which you might hear calling especially at dusk and during spring. This makes it a hotspot for amphibian watchers and a place where the evening sounds change with the seasons as different species become active.
