Ashton Observatory

Ashton Observatory is a public viewing facility in Jasper County featuring two motorized domes equipped with high-powered telescopes for examining the night sky. The site offers clear views of celestial objects from its rural location where light pollution is minimal.

Cedar Amateur Astronomers founded this facility in 1979 with a core group of 12 members dedicated to stargazing. The organization expanded significantly over the decades to become the established observation site it is today.
